GLENN SHORROCK IS BACK WITH SOLO ALBUM RISE AGAIN

With the title track from Glenn Shorrock’s new album having been released, the album itself has hit shelves across the country as well as digital retail stores.  RISE AGAIN is a collection of new songs from different writers, including Shorrock himself.

Contributors on the album include Terry Britten and Graham Lyle for ‘The Wood and the Wire’ and ‘Make A Difference’, Mitch Cairns for ‘Trouble’, and David Froggatt for ‘Candlelight Moon’ and ‘Blissful Oblivion’. Glenn’s also included his own 2008 recording of Dave Dobbyn’s ‘Slice of Heaven’, and penned three of the songs, ‘Hear My Voice’, ‘Emperors Clothes’ and ‘Stick Up Your Finger’.

RISE AGAIN is a textured reflection of a mature, evolving artist who has enjoyed the rare sight from the summit of showbiz, and knows all too well the struggle that invariably comes with it. Shorrock has tapped into this struggle and found new energy.

The founding frontman of The Twilights, Axiom and ‘70s hitmakers Little River Band (later known as LRB), Shorrock carved out astonishing success around the globe and particularly in the USA, where LRB shifted the bulk of its 25 million-plus career album sales. The living legend has the unusual distinction of having been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame on two occasions, both as a member of LRB, and as a solo artist.

Shorrock toured through 2016 with shows across NSW, as well as Melbourne and Geelong in September, Shorrock always looks forward, although his live performances always pay respect to the past. His typical set list features a wealth of classic tracks from across his 50-year-plus career, woven in with material from his latest album.

It’s an eclectic bunch of material,” he says of RISE AGAIN. “I didn’t want to reproduce the same song over and again and not everybody is going to like everything. But I wanted it to be a very dynamic record. And I think I’ve succeeded in that.”

PRESS RELEASE: GLENN SHORROCK SIGNS DEAL WITH SOCIAL FAMILY RECORDS AND ANNOUNCES SOLO ALBUM RISE AGAIN.

One of Australia’s most legendary vocalists, Glenn Shorrock, has signed a solo deal with independent label, Social Family Records.  His first album in many years, Rise Again, is set and ready to go, slated for release on Friday, 9 September and available for pre-order from 5 August.

It’s been awhile, due in part to my infamous ‘writers block’ period, but welcome to my latest musical offering!  This new album is made up largely of compositions written by myself and a few of my colleagues, old and new.  It began as an EP, but grew with a little help from my friends, who all have different personalities – and the songs do too!” – Glenn Shorrock

After the contentiousness surrounding LRB in recent years, Shorrock has written about the predicament of being part of the long running LRB saga, in the first track released from the album as a free download to his fans.  Hear My Voice is another – and final – reaction to the events of previous years, and is a teaser to what follows.

Hear My Voice starts off with these telling lyrics in the first verse:

I don’t care who is right or wrong
You’ve got my name, but I’ve still got my song
I don’t care what you might call me

Hear my voice and you will know me.”

The signing itself was an easy decision for SFR and Golden Robot Entertainment’s President & Founder, Mark Alexander-Erber, a long time collector of memorabilia and fan of Glenn’s and the Little River Band.  Included in the vast collection is an original copy of the 1987 agreement LRB signed in the USA with MCA Records, seeing them hit the big time.  “Signing Glenn Shorrock to Social Family Records was a no brainer for me.  I’m very excited to have one of my all time favourites on board.”
